Great Bay Community College is a public two-year college serving the New Hampshire Seacoast. Its selective 18-credit Welding Technologies certificate is delivered through three sequential six-credit welding courses with substantial shop time. The curriculum covers Stick, MIG, TIG and Flux-Core welding, oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, blueprint reading, electricity, safety, fabrication and quality control. Students advance from basic flat-position welds to out-of-position and advanced work, and the official catalog states that graduates are prepared for American Welding Society certification testing. Great Bay moved the welding program from its former Rochester facility to a newly constructed lab at the Portsmouth campus in 2026.

Basic Welding Technologies (WELD100G) is the first six-credit course in Great Bay's Welding Technologies certificate, not a standalone credential. It introduces electric-arc and fuel-gas welding, power supplies, electrode classifications, joint design, material identification, blueprint reading, geometry and safety. Students practice basic fillet and square-groove welds in the flat position on mild steel to industry standards.

The 18-credit Welding Technologies certificate consists of three sequential six-credit courses completed over three semesters. Students progress through substantial theory and shop hours in Stick, MIG, TIG and Flux-Core welding, plus oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, blueprint reading, welding electricity, safety, material properties, fabrication and quality control. Required protective equipment is purchased separately. The official catalog says completers are prepared for AWS certification testing and may apply the certificate toward Great Bay's Technical Studies associate degree.
