PIT Weld U

A project-based introductory course covering MIG and TIG welding in mild steel and aluminum, basic metal cutting, fabrication on flat bar and tubing, equipment setup, and welding symbols. The 16-week evening course includes an AWS Certified Welder test under D1.3, AWS membership, and OSHA-10 certification; students must also complete PWU-500 and purchase the required toolkit.

An advanced industrial MIG course covering GMAW, Flux-Core welding, oxy-fuel torch cutting, equipment setup, weld sample testing, and structural-steel plate and box-tube welding in flat and horizontal positions. PWU-100 is a prerequisite unless proficiency is demonstrated, and PWU-500 must be taken with the course.

A 16-week course in shielded metal arc welding for structural, heavy-equipment, fabrication, construction, and pipeline applications. It also develops advanced torch-cutting skills and documents oxyacetylene and plasma-arc cutting. Tuition includes an AWS D1.1 plate Certified Welder test, AWS membership, and OSHA-10; PWU-500 is also required.

A 10-week fabrication course using sheet-metal brakes, tube benders, bead rollers, shrinker/stretchers, CNC plasma equipment, and related metalworking systems. Students apply MIG and TIG welding, plasma cutting, and fabrication techniques. PWU-100 is a prerequisite unless proficiency is demonstrated, and PWU-500 must be taken concurrently.

A 16-week advanced pipe-welding course focused on pipe fit-up, beveling, weld positions, joint geometry, preparation, bead application, and weld profile. Students perform Stick and TIG welds to applicable codes on carbon-steel pipe and use oxyacetylene cutting. Tuition includes an AWS D1.1 pipe Certified Welder test; PWU-200 and PWU-500 are prerequisites.

A classroom-based welding print-reading course covering the symbols, specifications, lines, and notes used in welding documents. It is required with PWU-150 and PWU-300 and is also required for students in PWU-100 and PWU-200, although it may be taken before, during, or after those courses.

A robotic-welding technician course using an APT Manufacturing Mod-Weld system, FANUC CRX 10iA cobot, and Fronius TPSi power source. Students program weld paths and industry-standard procedures across material positions and joints, including automated GMAW pulse, weave, synergic, and CMT waveforms for automated fabrication and manufacturing work. PWU-100 and PWU-500 are prerequisites.
