Vermont State University currently offers a 125-hour, self-paced online Welder Technician course through its Center for Workforce & Professional Education. The course combines welding theory with virtual simulations and covers MIG, Stick, TIG, fabrication, soldering, oxyfuel cutting, and plasma cutting, plus supporting topics such as materials, inspection, rigging, safety, and manufacturing practices. The university's Randolph workforce center also maintains welding-training facilities, but the reviewed Intermediate Welding page lists only 2023–24 sessions and the current 2026 workforce catalog does not list that course, so its present availability needs review.
