AVTEC's 1,110-clock-hour Industrial Welding certificate combines classroom instruction, lab training, and live-work practice for entry-level construction, petroleum, mining, and heavy-equipment employment. Stick welding is the principal focus, with additional MIG, Flux-Core, TIG, oxyfuel, plasma, and air-carbon-arc work. Students practice plate and pipe welding, fabrication, destructive groove-weld testing, introductory nondestructive testing, pipe layout and fitting, and carbon- and stainless-steel applications. The curriculum includes OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, employability instruction, AWS unlimited-thickness structural preparation, and ASME Section IX 6G pipe preparation.
