Welding Technology I is a two-semester high-school CTE program awarding three high-school credits per semester. Eligible 11th- and 12th-grade students study Stick, MIG and TIG welding along with safety, blueprint reading, fabrication techniques and welding procedures. The program requires Algebra I and English 10 and includes nine Ivy Tech dual credits in Welding Fundamentals, Shielded Metal Arc Welding I and Gas Metal Arc Welding. Students can earn AWS welding certifications after successful skills testing.
