Bay College is a public community college based in Escanaba, Michigan. Its welding pathway includes a 33-credit certificate with classroom and shop training in arc, MIG and TIG welding, blueprint reading, fabrication, brazing and thermal cutting. Students work with carbon and low-alloy steel as well as aluminum and stainless steel and can complete third-party qualification tests aligned with AWS D1.1. Beginning in fall 2026, certificate coursework stacks into a Welding Technology Associate in Applied Science that adds welding graphics, quality testing, code compliance, automation and a fabrication capstone.
