This competency-based certificate gives students hands-on instruction in welding and cutting on a variety of metals. The curriculum covers shop and process safety, measurement, written instructions, basic print reading, AWS welding symbols, oxy-fuel and other thermal/mechanical cutting, and MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding. Students complete projects and practice selecting suitable processes and producing quality welds. Admission requires a high school diploma or recognized equivalent and specified WorkKeys levels unless qualifying ACT, SAT, or prior BTECH high-school work supports a waiver.
