Brightpoint Community College offers two current welding credentials at its Chester campus: a one-year Welding Certificate and a one-year Welding Career Studies Certificate. Both prepare students for entry-level welding work through hands-on laboratory training, safety, blueprint and welding-symbol interpretation, and enhanced entry-level Stick welding skills. The longer certificate also emphasizes complex cutting layout, teamwork, and fabrication of an EDU-1 SENSE project. Current college disclosures identify both credentials with the American Welding Society SENSE Certificate, and qualified students may be eligible for Virginia G3 tuition assistance.

This one-year certificate prepares students for entry-level welding work. Students develop safe laboratory habits, lay out and complete complex cutting projects, strengthen Stick welding skills, work as part of a team, interpret blueprints and welding symbols, and fabricate an EDU-1 SENSE project. The program is offered at the Chester campus and prepares graduates for roles such as welder, cutter, welder-fitter, machine setter or operator, and reinforcing-iron worker.
