About Cecil College (school-wide)

Cecil College offers non-credit NCCER-based welding training for entry-level work and a credit-bearing Skilled Trades Associate of Applied Science with a Construction concentration. The workforce sequence covers safety, cutting, beads and fillet welds, SMAW, groove and open-root groove welds, and MIG and TIG. Students in the AAS construction pathway select two skilled-trade areas and may use documented NCCER welding and welder-qualification credentials toward credential-assessment credit.

This non-credit, NCCER-based sequence prepares students for entry-level welding work. Eight components progress through safety and cutting, basic beads and fillet welds, SMAW, groove and open-root groove welds, advanced shielded-metal-arc techniques, and MIG and TIG. Basic Construction Skills is a prerequisite for the NCCER welding sequence.
