Chipola College offers two Workforce Development Certificate pathways in welding at its Marianna campus. The 1,050-clock-hour Welding Technology program develops entry-level skills in Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding, oxyfuel and plasma cutting, and basic pipe welding. Graduates or experienced welders can continue into the 750-clock-hour Welding Technology - Advanced program for advanced welding, pipe fitting and fabrication, multiple welding positions, metallurgy, blueprints and work to AWS D1.1 standards. Workforce classes combine lecture and lab and generally meet Monday through Thursday during the day.

This 1,050-clock-hour Workforce Development Certificate prepares students for entry-level welding employment through five competency-based courses. Students progress from welding safety, shop organization, metal identification, symbols, oxyfuel and plasma cutting, and basic Stick welding into MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding and a basic introduction to pipe welding. The program combines lecture and laboratory instruction, meets Monday through Thursday during the day, and can be completed in approximately one year. Chipola's welding program also offers opportunities to earn AWS certifications in multiple welding processes.

This advanced 750-clock-hour Workforce Development Certificate is intended for students who have completed Welding Technology or can demonstrate equivalent outcomes. Two competency-based courses develop advanced Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding on ferrous and nonferrous materials in multiple positions, pipe fitting and fabrication, metallurgy, blueprints, equipment and safety, and weld work performed to AWS D1.1 standards. The program combines lecture and lab and can be completed in approximately two semesters.
