The current diploma provides applied classroom and shop training for entry-level welding and metalworking employment. Its required sequence covers print reading, cutting, SMAW plate, combined GMAW/FCAW plate, GTAW plate and plate/pipe, symbols and specifications, and fabrication. Students select work-based learning or SMAW pipe and complete general education. The curriculum also addresses metallurgy, inspection, destructive and nondestructive testing, and careers in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, quality control, and related self-employment.
