Clovis Community College

This 63-credit Associate of Applied Science combines 15 credits of general education with the full 48-credit occupational welding sequence. Technical study covers safety, Flux-Core, print reading, thermal cutting, Stick, MIG and TIG welding, welder qualification, pipe welding and layout, fabrication, inspection and testing, and multiple levels of process training. The occupational sequence is completed over three consecutive semesters in weekday morning classes; the AAS requires two additional semesters of general education. Students meeting the program's 75-percent standard qualify for AWS SENSE listing and entry-level and advanced AWS certificates.

This 17-credit certificate is earned through the first semester of Clovis's full-time Welding program. It emphasizes safety and introduces Flux-Core, Stick, MIG and TIG welding, print reading and thermal cutting. Students must complete all courses with at least 75 percent. Successful completers earn CCC's Entry-Level Welder certificate and AWS entry-level certificates in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW.

This 31-credit advanced certificate follows the entry-level semester and develops welding inspection and qualification, layout and fabrication, and pipe welding. Students complete advanced Stick, MIG and TIG work, pipe fabrication and layout, and pipe welding through the second and third occupational semesters. All courses require at least 75 percent, and successful completers earn CCC and AWS Advanced Welder certificates.
