College of Eastern Idaho offers three stackable Welding Technology credentials: a 30-credit Intermediate Technical Certificate, a 54-credit Advanced Technical Certificate, and a 69-credit Associate of Applied Science. The competitive-entry, cohort-based program combines about two hours of classroom work with four and a half hours of hands-on training each day. Instruction covers Stick, MIG, TIG, and Flux-Core welding, plate and pipe positions, multiple cutting processes, blueprint reading, welding mathematics, layout and fabrication, metallurgy, safety, and theory. The technical sequence is taught in a live-shop environment at the Idaho Falls campus.
