College of Southern Idaho offers a limited-enrollment Welding Technology pathway at its Twin Falls campus. The 63-credit Welding Technology AAS follows a five-term plan. Students study safety and leadership, thermal cutting, welding theory, blueprint reading, Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding before progressing to applied GMAW/FCAW and GTAW projects, cooperative education or project work, pipe and sanitary welding, structural steel welding, construction drawings and a fabrication capstone. The limited-enrollment program is designed to develop entry-level shop skills and requires a separate welding application.
