Compton College's welding program provides hands-on preparation for welding, fabrication, inspection, and related industrial work. Students train in oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting, Stick, MIG, TIG, and Flux-Core welding on ferrous and nonferrous materials; read drawings and welding symbols; lay out and fabricate projects; and practice plate, structural, and pipe work in multiple positions. The college offers separate Associate in Science and Certificate of Achievement pathways, and required courses explicitly prepare students for AWS D1.1 welder performance qualification testing.
