Dakota County Technical College offers a 36-credit Welding Technology diploma designed for completion in nine months at the Rosemount campus. Students combine classroom theory with extensive laboratory practice in Stick, MIG, TIG, and Flux-Core welding; oxy-fuel, plasma, and carbon-arc cutting and gouging; print reading; metallurgy; inspection; safety; and shop fabrication. The curriculum progresses from flat and horizontal plate work to vertical and overhead positions and includes carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Classes are offered during daytime, afternoon, and evening periods, with a full-time fall start.
