Dawson Community College's Welding Technology program prepares entry-level welders and fabricators through sequential classroom and shop training. The current curriculum covers MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, pulse welding, aluminum welding, pipe welding and layout, structural fabrication, blueprint and weld-symbol interpretation, cutting, equipment care, and welding qualification or certification testing. Students can pursue a 67-credit Associate of Applied Science, a 34-credit Certificate of Applied Science, or shorter career-certificate tiers, and the full associate pathway includes more than 2,000 hours of hands-on shop training according to the college's program page.
