Dickinson State University offers a one-year, 30-credit Welding Technology certificate through its technical studies area. The program is designed to prepare well-rounded entry-level welders for manufacturing and energy work in western North Dakota. Its progressive curriculum covers Stick, MIG, TIG and Flux-Core processes, oxyacetylene and plasma cutting, welding positions, safety, mathematics, welding symbols, print reading, metallurgy and computer-aided drafting. Welding requires full-time enrollment and substantial on-campus attendance.
