Eastern Florida State College provides welding training at its Cocoa campus through a limited-access, 1,050-clock-hour Welding Technology Career and Technical Certificate and a separate short non-credit course. The full-time certificate combines theory with shop practice in Stick, MIG and TIG welding, pipe and structural applications, fabrication, metallurgy, blueprint reading, cutting and certification-oriented performance. It starts each fall and runs for two 20-week terms. The seven-week continuing-education course focuses on Flux-Core welding and includes a hands-on test for AWS 2G and 3G certification eligibility.

This limited-access, on-campus Career and Technical Certificate requires 1,050 clock hours and starts each fall. Students complete two 20-week terms of theory and hands-on training in welding symbols and blueprints, metallurgy, Stick, MIG and TIG welding, oxyfuel and plasma cutting, fabrication, pipe preparation and advanced pipe welding. The curriculum develops pipe and structural-steel skills on ferrous and nonferrous materials and culminates in certification-oriented plate, pipe and tubing work. Graduates are eligible to take the AWS certification exam.

Students cover shop safety, welding symbols and blueprints, basic equipment selection and setup, arc manipulation and weld-bead characteristics. A practical weld test can establish eligibility for AWS 2G and 3G Flux-Core certification.
