Erie 1 BOCES Workforce Development provides short-term adult career training in Western New York. Its current 324-hour Welding Technology program combines shop math and blueprint reading with hands-on Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding. The full program is offered in daytime and evening formats at the Workforce Development North Campus; its five component courses can also be taken sequentially in the evening.

This 324-hour program combines 36 hours of shop math and blueprint reading with four 72-hour welding courses. Hands-on instruction progresses through Stick welding, advanced all-position SMAW, MIG and Flux-Core welding on carbon-steel plate, and TIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Students practice equipment setup, joint preparation, bead control, multiple-pass work, weld inspection, cutting and basic fabrication. OSHA 10-hour training is included, and official earlier program material documents an opportunity to earn credentials through the AWS SENSE program.
