A 28-credit Certificate of Technical Studies designed for entry-level welding employment and apprenticeships. The program consists of welding safety and theory plus two intensive welding-and-fabrication courses. Students learn shop safety, equipment setup, oxy-fuel cutting, joint fit-up and alignment, welding positions, blueprint and symbol interpretation, materials behavior, layout and fabrication through module testing and hands-on performance. Current and recent official course descriptions support Stick, MIG, TIG and flux-cored welding. Students can earn NCCER welding credentials, and completers have an opportunity to take an AWS certification test.
