Frederick Community College offers welding through a credit Building Trades Technology certificate track and noncredit workforce training at the Monroe Center. The credit track teaches safety, cutting, welding positions and MIG, TIG and Stick processes, with required Stick training and an advanced-process elective. Workforce students build skills in welding and cutting, basic metallurgy, symbols and blueprint reading before completing Foundations, GMAW or SMAW certificate sequences; the SMAW sequence includes an opportunity for structural 2G and 3G qualification.
