Gateway Technical College is a public member of the Wisconsin Technical College System serving southeastern Wisconsin. Its welding pathway includes a 16-credit Welding/Maintenance & Fabrication technical diploma and a 43-credit Welding technical diploma. This 43-credit technical diploma develops welding skills through hands-on projects, blueprint interpretation, layout and fabrication practice. Official materials document MIG, TIG and Stick welding, thermal cutting, pipe and structural applications, and advanced welding practice. The first 16 credits embed the Welding/Maintenance & Fabrication diploma, allowing students to earn an entry-level credential while continuing the longer program.
