Gillette College, operated by the independent Gillette Community College District, offers Welding Technology as an Associate of Applied Science and as a certificate. The Welding Technology Associate of Applied Science builds broad technical and applied welding skills. Students gain hands-on proficiency with welding machines and processes and study safety, thermal cutting, print reading and welding symbols, inspection, metallurgy, destructive and nondestructive testing, fabrication, pipe work and automated welding and cutting. Current schedules document Stick, MIG, TIG and flux-cored welding. The program also includes opportunities for co-op or internship experience and prepares students for weld qualification to code specifications.
