The Associate of Applied Science combines advanced welding shop work with general education, welding theory, metallurgy, blueprint and symbol interpretation, cutting, quality control and fabrication. Students develop all-position Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG skills, complete pipe-layout and pipe-welding work, and study specialized structural and fabrication applications. The current catalog describes preparation for industry credentials and notes that certified welding inspectors are available so students can earn an AWS certification.
