HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College offers two credit-bearing welding pathways. The 16-credit Welding diploma provides one-semester, hands-on instruction in Stick, MIG, TIG and Flux-Core welding, thermal cutting, safety and print reading at the Harrisburg and York campuses. The 31-credit Welding Technology certificate is available at Harrisburg and adds pipe welding, fabrication or cooperative work experience, inspection and testing, and more advanced process training. Both programs use on-campus shop instruction and are designed for direct workforce entry, with certificate coursework also eligible to transfer into HACC's Industrial Technology AAS.

This 31-credit certificate develops advanced welding-industry skills through on-campus classroom and shop work. Required study covers industrial OSHA safety, print reading and welding symbols, oxy-fuel cutting/welding/brazing, Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding, pipe welding, inspection and testing, and either welding fabrication or a cooperative work experience. Students practice joining metals in multiple positions, thermal cutting and gouging, print interpretation, and destructive and nondestructive weld examination.

This 16-credit diploma provides hands-on entry-level welding training in one full-time semester. Students study industrial safety, welding fundamentals, oxy-fuel cutting/welding/brazing, Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding, blueprint reading and welding-symbol interpretation. Training uses shop equipment and covers welding carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel; graduates are prepared for entry-level assembly, maintenance and welding-assistant work and may continue into HACC's Welding Technology certificate.
