This 31-credit certificate develops advanced welding-industry skills through on-campus classroom and shop work. Required study covers industrial OSHA safety, print reading and welding symbols, oxy-fuel cutting/welding/brazing, Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding, pipe welding, inspection and testing, and either welding fabrication or a cooperative work experience. Students practice joining metals in multiple positions, thermal cutting and gouging, print interpretation, and destructive and nondestructive weld examination.
