Halifax Community College offers a hands-on Welding Technology curriculum at its Weldon campus with five distinct credentials: a one-year diploma, an eight-month general certificate, a four-month Stick/pipe certificate, a six-month MIG/TIG fabrication certificate, and a Career and College Promise certificate for qualified high-school students. Instruction combines classroom study and practical shop application in arc-welding and cutting processes, print symbols and specifications, and—at the diploma level—advanced plate and pipe work, fabrication, inspection and weld testing. Students supply specified personal protective equipment and tools, and diploma students also complete related academic coursework.
