This 192-hour foundation class combines 75 hands-on hours of all-position Stick welding on fillet and groove welds under AWS D1.1, 35 hours of gas-shielded and self-shielded flux-cored welding and MIG welding, 20 hours of TIG welding, and 30 hours of oxyfuel and plasma cutting plus carbon-arc gouging. Another 32 classroom hours cover the welding topics, blueprint reading and welding symbols. Applicants must be high-school graduates or hold a GED.

This advanced 192-hour class focuses on SMAW pipe welding. Students complete 120 hands-on hours welding 2-inch and 6-inch pipe in multiple positions, 40 hours of pipe fitting and fabrication, and 32 classroom hours in pipe-fitting calculations, blueprints, welding symbols and fabrication methods. Instruction distinguishes AWS D1.1 structural requirements from ASME B31.3 process-piping requirements. Entry requires passing a 3G and 4G test or completing Level 1 with at least 70 percent.
