Hawkeye Community College is a public community college in Iowa with five welding pathways. Academic options at the Waterloo main campus include a 20-credit Welding Certificate, two distinct Intermediate Manufacturing Welding diplomas, and a 44-credit Advanced Manufacturing Welding Diploma. These competency-based hybrid programs combine online theory with scheduled in-person labs in MIG, Stick, flux-cored and TIG welding, thermal cutting, blueprint reading and robotic welding. A separate two-month Production Welding Workplace Certificate is taught at the Cedar Falls Center and concentrates on MIG fillet welds, safety, applied math and blueprint reading, with independent evaluation for possible AWS qualification.
