This secondary career and technical pathway combines welding theory with extensive hands-on shop training. Students study blueprint reading, metallurgy, layout and fabrication, thermal cutting and welding inspection while practicing Stick, MIG, TIG and flux-cored welding. Shop work also includes oxyfuel and plasma cutting and use of grinders, saws and metal-forming tools. Students may pursue AWS certifications, OSHA 10 and manufacturer-sponsored qualifications and may gain work-based experience through internships, pre-apprenticeships or industry partnerships.
