Indian River State College offers two welding pathways. Its selective-admission, 1,050-hour Welding Technology vocational certificate is available in Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie, with day and evening formats and about 75 percent of training in the lab. Students learn Stick, MIG, TIG and Flux-Core welding, metal preparation, blueprint reading and fabrication, and can test for AWS certifications in structural and pipe work. A separate 2,671-hour Welding Apprenticeship combines classroom study with paid training through a local employer that sponsors the apprentice.
