Iowa Central Community College offers a 34-credit Welding Technology diploma that develops fundamental techniques during the first semester and more advanced skills during the second. The curriculum also addresses metallurgy, fabrication, layout, estimating, and repair, while the current equipment list supports hands-on MIG, TIG, and Stick work. A separate noncredit Production Welding certificate teaches blueprint reading, MIG welding, thermal cutting, equipment safety, welding symbols, and shop problem-solving, with successful students eligible for five transfer credits toward the diploma.
