Iowa Western Community College

This 28.5-credit, two-semester diploma develops entry-level welding skills through a sequenced curriculum in safety, oxy-acetylene work, Stick, MIG and TIG welding, fabrication and pipe applications. The first semester supplies foundational certificate coursework; the second adds fabrication, pipe welding and additional workplace preparation. The program is based in Council Bluffs and supports full-time, part-time and evening enrollment.

This 16.5-credit, one-semester certificate introduces oxy-acetylene work, blueprint and welding-symbol reading, Stick and MIG welding, and basic fabrication. The credential serves as the first semester of the Welding Technology diploma and is officially offered at both Council Bluffs and the Clarinda Center.

This short-term workforce course trains students in MIG, Stick and Flux-Core welding through hands-on practice and explicitly prepares participants for AWS certification testing. The published Fall 2026 section meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Business and Community Training Center, and the college states that AWS testing is hosted on site.

This stackable workforce certificate combines MIG welding, Welding Foundations & Techniques with AWS certification preparation, and advanced TIG training. The program uses hands-on training at the Business and Community Training Center, meets weekday mornings, and includes an AWS testing opportunity hosted by the college.
