Lincoln Electric’s Welding Technology & Training Center in Cleveland, Ohio, provides hands-on welding education ranging from a 16-week comprehensive training program to focused one-week courses in specific welding processes, pipe welding and specialty applications. Lincoln Electric traces its welding school to 1917 and reports that more than 150,000 students from the United States and abroad have trained through the school.
Training combines classroom instruction with extensive booth and lab time. Lincoln Electric states that welding-school students typically spend about 40% of their time in the classroom and 60% in the welding booth, with access to the company’s welding equipment, consumables and training facilities at its Cleveland headquarters. Courses cover major arc-welding processes as well as pipe welding, cutting, automation and specialty materials.
The Welding Technology & Training Center offers both broad and process-specific training. The 16 Week Comprehensive Program includes more than 400 hours of hands-on instruction covering Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding along with oxyfuel and plasma cutting, blueprint reading, cobot welding and certification testing. Shorter courses allow experienced or developing welders to focus on areas such as API and ASME pipe welding, submerged arc welding, maintenance alloys and motorsports applications.
