Lincoln Electric’s 16 Week Comprehensive Program is a 480-clock-hour welding program designed to provide broad training in the major arc-welding processes. More than 400 hours of the program are devoted to hands-on instruction.

Training progresses through:

• Blueprint reading and welding safety

• Cutting, heat treating, brazing and oxyfuel processes

• Five weeks of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick)

• Three weeks of Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), including cobot robotic welding

• Two weeks of Flux-Cored Arc Welding

• Three weeks of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG)

• Certification testing

The program is designed for students seeking comprehensive welding preparation rather than training in a single process. Welding gear and tools are included with the program, although students are responsible for their own steel-toe safety boots. The program runs Monday through Friday and awards 48 CEUs upon completion.

The API Pipe course is a six-week, 180-clock-hour pipe-welding program focused on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick) using techniques associated with API 1104 and vertical-down pipe welding.

Students progress from basic pipe-welding methods into more advanced butt-joint techniques using cellulosic and low-hydrogen electrodes. Advanced practice includes welding Schedule 40, 12-inch pipe. Instruction combines booth practice and lecture with an emphasis on developing skills applicable to pipeline and API-code welding work.

This is not an introductory welding course. Students are expected to have previous welding experience and must demonstrate vertical and overhead welds on a test plate using E6010 and E7018 electrodes before entering the class.

The ASME Pipe course provides six weeks and 180 clock hours of advanced pipe-welding instruction oriented toward ASME vertical-up welding applications and pressure-piping work.

Students train in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG). Instruction includes pipe-joint preparation and welding techniques in which TIG may be used for root and hot passes, while low-hydrogen Stick electrodes may be used for fill and cap passes depending on student ability.

Advanced practice includes Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 six-inch pipe as well as two-inch Schedule 80 pipe. Students should already have welding experience and must demonstrate satisfactory vertical and overhead welds with E6010 and E7018 electrodes before entering the course.

Introduction to Welding is a five-day, 30-clock-hour course providing hands-on exposure to several major welding and cutting processes.

The course progresses through:

Stick welding using several electrode groups

Flat, horizontal and vertical-up welding

MIG welding using short-circuit, globular, spray and pulsed-spray transfer

TIG welding on steel and stainless steel

Plasma cutting

The course combines welding-safety instruction, classroom discussion and practical welding experience, making it a broad introductory option for students who want exposure to multiple processes before pursuing more specialized training.

This five-day, 30-clock-hour course focuses specifically on Gas Metal Arc Welding, commonly known as MIG welding.

Students receive welding-safety instruction along with approximately 30 hours of combined booth training, lecture and practical exercises using the GMAW/MIG process. The course is designed as focused process training for students who want concentrated experience with semiautomatic wire-feed welding rather than a multi-process curriculum.

This five-day, 30-clock-hour course combines hands-on MIG welding with introductory collaborative-robot welding instruction.

Students spend approximately:

Three days working with Gas Metal Arc Welding/MIG

Two days receiving hands-on instruction with cobot welding systems

The course blends booth instruction, lecture and practical exercises and is designed for students who want both conventional GMAW experience and an introduction to welding automation using collaborative robotic systems.

This five-day, 30-clock-hour course provides focused instruction in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, commonly known as TIG welding.

Students receive welding-safety instruction and practical TIG training through a combination of booth work, lecture and practice. Welding exercises focus on several common materials, including:

Mild steel

Aluminum

Stainless steel

The course is designed for students seeking concentrated TIG experience rather than broad multi-process training.

This five-day, 30-clock-hour course introduces students to Shielded Metal Arc Welding, or Stick welding, on plate and sheet material.

Instruction includes:

Basic weld symbols

Electrode types and selection

Electrode classifications

Welding power sources and polarity

Advantages and limitations of different electrodes

Welding techniques and electrode applications

Welding mild steel in multiple positions

Students receive a combination of welding-safety instruction, classroom material and hands-on Stick-welding practice.

Maintenance Alloys is a five-day, 34-clock-hour specialty course designed for experienced welders working with repair, maintenance and difficult-to-weld materials.

Course content includes:

• Torch welding

• Brazing and cutting

• Carbon arc gouging and repair

• Plasma cutting

• Metallurgy

• Stick welding on stainless steel

• Welding dissimilar metals

• Cast-iron repair

• Hardfacing

Students are expected to have prior Stick-welding experience before enrolling. The course is particularly suited to welding and maintenance applications where repair methods, specialty alloys and joining dissimilar materials are important.

This five-day, 30-clock-hour course provides concentrated training in Flux-Cored Arc Welding.

Students receive welding-safety instruction and practical FCAW experience using both:

Self-shielded flux-core methods

Gas-shielded flux-core methods

Lincoln Electric specifically identifies training with its Innershield self-shielded products and Outershield and UltraCore gas-shielded methods. The course is intended for students seeking focused hands-on experience with flux-cored wire welding.

This five-day, 30-clock-hour course focuses on the fundamentals and application of Submerged Arc Welding.

Training includes:

Submerged Arc Welding safety

SAW fundamentals

Conventional submerged-arc systems

Single- and twin-wire welding

Wire and flux selection and applications

Polarity

Troubleshooting weld defects

AC/DC submerged-arc systems

Welding waveform technology

Students work with a range of Lincoln Electric submerged-arc equipment and gain hands-on exposure to conventional and more advanced SAW systems used for high-deposition welding applications.

The Basic Motorsports Materials Program is a five-day, 34-clock-hour technical course combining classroom instruction with substantial hands-on welding practice. Lincoln Electric describes the course as approximately 30% classroom and 70% hands-on.

Training focuses on welding processes and materials commonly encountered in motorsports fabrication, including:

• TIG welding

• MIG welding

• Aluminum

• Stainless steel

• Oxyfuel applications

• Plasma cutting

• Alloy identification and metallurgy

Students are introduced to welding technologies used in motorsports applications and receive open-lab time in addition to process-specific instruction. Previous MIG and TIG experience is highly recommended.

The Advanced Motorsports Materials Program is a five-day, 34-clock-hour specialty course centered primarily on TIG welding advanced metals used in motorsports and high-performance fabrication.

Hands-on training includes TIG welding of:

• Chrome-moly

• Titanium

• Inconel

• Magnesium

The course is approximately 30% classroom and 70% hands-on and also introduces advanced welding technologies and equipment. Students receive dedicated training on a different specialty material during much of the week, followed by open-lab work and exposure to new products.
