Mountain Empire Community College offers a Welding Associate of Applied Science, a Welding Certificate, and Welding Operator I and II career-studies certificates. The credit pathways emphasize hands-on shop training for entry-level welding employment. Documented instruction includes Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding in multiple positions, oxyfuel and plasma cutting, pipe welding and fabrication-related layout. Supporting study includes safety, metallurgy, measurement, blueprint reading and welding symbols. The two operator certificates are aligned with NCCER Welding Level One and Level Two credentials; official sources do not document AWS certification preparation.
