This 32-credit, two-semester certificate combines classroom work with extensive welding-lab practice. Required courses cover oxyacetylene welding and cutting, plasma cutting, arc-welding fundamentals, structural SMAW with E7018 electrodes, open-root SMAW with E6010 electrodes, flux-core welding and plasma-table operation, along with print reading, technical mathematics and industrial safety. Major welding courses are scheduled sequentially within each semester. The program explicitly prepares students for the AWS D1-SM-F4-P-A-L structural welding qualification test and employment in fabrication, manufacturing, shipyard and industrial-construction settings.
