Northwest Iowa Community College offers a 12-credit Production Welding certificate, a 13-credit Welding Exploration certificate, a 41-credit Production Welding diploma, and a two-year Advanced Welding Technology associate degree. The diploma combines extensive shop work in Stick, MIG and TIG welding, pipe welding, oxyfuel welding and cutting, fabrication and metallurgy. Students use equipment that includes a robotic welder and may train for structural-pipe qualification testing under AWS, ASME and API codes. The advanced degree combines the welding diploma with engineering-design study and adds CNC plasma programming and robotic manufacturing work.
