Nunez Community College offers a stackable academic welding pathway consisting of a 9-credit Shielded Metal Arc Welding Career and Technical Certificate, a 20-credit Intermediate Welding Certificate of Technical Studies and a 53-credit Combo Welder Technical Diploma. Students progress through Stick, MIG, Flux-Core, TIG, open-root and pipe welding with substantial hands-on laboratory work. The college provides opportunities to test with an American Welding Society inspector at the end of each term and also offers a separate workforce AWS Welding course. Beginning Fall 2026, Nunez additionally offers beginner welding classes to dual-enrollment students at a temporary Plaquemines Parish site in Belle Chasse.
