Oakland Community College offers two stackable Welding/Fabrication Technology credentials at the Auburn Hills Campus. The 15-credit Level I Certificate of Achievement develops foundational shop skills in GMAW, GTAW and SMAW, with introductions to FCAW and plasma-arc cutting. This 15-credit Certificate of Achievement is the foundational credential in OCC's welding and fabrication pathway. Required courses cover welding-shop basics, GMAW, GTAW and SMAW, supported by industrial math and print reading. Current course descriptions also document an introduction to FCAW in the GMAW course and plasma-arc cutting in the GTAW course. The credential validates a student's foundational employability skills and serves as the first stage of the Level II Certificate.
