Patrick & Henry Community College offers two credit welding credentials at its Manufacturing and Engineering Technology Complex in Martinsville. The 39-credit Industrial Welding Certificate provides general and specialized training in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW and pipe welding and explicitly prepares students for AWS D1.1 structural-welding examinations in three processes. The 19-credit Welding Career Studies Certificate provides a shorter entry-level pathway covering introductory welding, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW and oxyacetylene processes.
