This 39-credit certificate provides general and specialized welding training for employment as a welding specialist, welding assistant, industrial-maintenance worker or self-employed welder. Current catalog requirements and outcomes document SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW and pipe welding, supported by welding metallurgy, drawing interpretation and qualification testing. The curriculum explicitly prepares students to elect AWS D1.1 structural-welding examinations in FCAW, SMAW and GMAW; testing fees are paid separately by the student.
