Richmond Community College offers a noncredit workforce welding program at its Hamlet Campus. The two-semester pathway is organized around Welding I and Welding II: Welding I covers cutting processes, Stick plate welding and fabrication, while Welding II covers MIG, Flux-Core and TIG plate welding. Additional offerings provide focused practice in Stick plate, Stick pipe, TIG pipe and basic Stick/MIG repair welding. Training is hands-on in the Forte Building welding lab, and the college states that students completing Welding I or Welding II can obtain American Welding Society certifications.

This short-term workforce program combines classroom assignments with hands-on training in the Hamlet Campus welding lab. Welding I develops cutting, Stick plate and fabrication skills; Welding II covers MIG, Flux-Core and TIG plate welding. Focused Stick plate, Stick pipe, TIG pipe and basic Stick/MIG repair classes are also listed. Pipe courses cover preparation, joint geometry, positions, bead application and code-oriented welding on carbon-steel pipe. Students provide specified personal protective equipment, and the college states that successful completion of Welding I or Welding II enables students to obtain AWS certifications.
