Salina Area Technical College offers a nine-month Welding Technology technical certificate and a two-year Associate of Applied Science pathway. The current curriculum combines classroom instruction with hands-on project work for manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, and construction careers. Required welding courses cover Stick, MIG, TIG, core-wire welding, oxyfuel, plasma and carbon-arc cutting, fabrication and production, with additional coverage of oxyacetylene, spot welding, brazing, soldering, and welding theory. Students complete AWS SMAW plate weld tests and also receive preparation in welding drawings, industrial practices, and workplace requirements.
