Sierra College's Rocklin-based Welding Technology program combines technical theory with hands-on commercial and industrial welding and fabrication. Current credentials include an AA or AS degree, a 26-unit Certificate of Achievement, and 10- to 13-unit skills certificates in gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, manual metal arc, and metal fabrication. Coursework covers MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, pipe welding, fabrication, plasma and oxyacetylene cutting, and thermal cutting and gouging. Several pathways include performance testing and industry-recognized welder qualification records, and required manual-metal-arc certification coursework explicitly uses AWS D1.1 structural-steel guidelines.
