About Southern Union State Community College (school-wide)
Southern Union State Community College offers six welding credentials at its Opelika Campus: a 72-credit Welding Technology AAS, a 54-credit certificate, and short-term certificates in MIG/Flux-Core, TIG, Stick, and carbon-steel pipe welding. Competency-based instruction combines theory and shop application in MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, pipe welding, oxyfuel cutting, carbon-arc cutting, and plasma cutting. The AAS curriculum prepares students for the AWS Entry Level Welder test and requires AWS SENSE third-party credentialing.
