This technical diploma develops proficiency through extensive practice in manual and semiautomatic welding across multiple positions and metals. Required welding coursework includes Stick, MIG, Flux-Core, and TIG; oxyfuel welding and brazing; oxyfuel, arc, and plasma cutting and gouging; carbon-steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel applications; forming and folding; and fabrication planning and work. Students also learn equipment operation, materials, weld testing, quality control, drawing interpretation, and safe shop practices.

This eight-week, six-credit in-person academy packages courses from the first two semesters of the Welding program for adults seeking entry-level manufacturing skills or a pathway into the full technical diploma. Students complete GMAW equipment and carbon-steel welding, plasma cutting and gouging, and fabrication coursework alongside welding blueprint and equipment-safety instruction. Training runs Monday through Thursday in a hands-on daytime format, and no prior welding experience is required.
