Surry Community College offers several welding pathways at its Dobson campus. Curriculum options include a general Welding Technology certificate and diploma plus focused GMAW, SMAW, and Industrial certificates; a separate workforce certificate provides 464 hours of noncredit training. Depending on the credential, students receive shop instruction in MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, pipe and plate applications, oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, fabrication, and automated welding or cutting. Published program plans combine welding practice with supporting technical courses, and some pathways are also available to eligible high-school students through Career & College Promise.
