Tidewater Community College is a public multi-campus community college serving South Hampton Roads. Its Portsmouth Campus offers a 33-credit Welding certificate and an 18-credit Welding Essentials career studies certificate. Both programs emphasize hands-on work in high-tech welding labs, progressing from oxyfuel welding and cutting through arc and inert-gas-shielded techniques and pipe and tube welding. The programs support employment in shipyards, utilities, manufacturing, marine work, refineries, fabrication, and repair.
