Victor Valley College offers a Welding Certificate of Achievement and an Associate in Science degree at its Main Campus in Victorville. Both pathways require 21 units of welding coursework in oxyacetylene welding and cutting, basic and advanced Stick, basic and advanced TIG, basic and advanced MIG, and welding symbols and blueprint reading; the associate degree adds general education to reach at least 60 units. Instruction combines lecture and laboratory practice on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The program participates in the American Welding Society Educational Institution Program and explicitly prepares students for AWS D1.1 structural-steel performance tests and the Los Angeles city welding license test.
