Wallace Community College

This 55-credit, four-semester certificate prepares plate and pipe welders through classroom and extensive lab work. The sequence covers Stick, MIG, Flux-Core and TIG welding, oxyfuel, plasma and carbon-arc cutting, carbon-pipe welding and pipefitting/fabrication. Students can exit after two semesters with plate-welding preparation or complete the full combination-welder curriculum. This 18-credit, two-semester advanced certificate is designed for graduates of a welding certificate or experienced welders who are ready for aluminum MIG work. This 18-credit, two-semester advanced certificate concentrates on TIG welding carbon and stainless-steel pipe. It is intended for welding-certificate graduates or experienced welders ready for advanced stainless GTAW. Students practice pipe positions, fit-up, purging, filler-metal selection and all-position consumable welds to applicable codes; instructor approval is required.

This four-week, hands-on continuing-education course introduces Stick, MIG and Flux-Core welding. It is designed for basic welding activities used in hobby and farm applications and is currently offered on both the Dothan and Eufaula campuses.
